Directors Meeting Minutes
April 15, 2025
In attendance: President Ross Holloway, Vice President Larry Long, Secretary Ron Wright, Treasurer Tim Standeford, Director Daryl Swinney, and General Manager Herb Cook.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 Am by Ross Holloway. The Minutes of the Directors meeting held on March 18, 2025 were presented for review/approval. Larry Long moved the minutes be approved as presented. The motion was seconded by Tim Standeford and carried unanimously. Herb Cook gave the Treasurer’s Report. Tim Standeford made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Larry Long seconded the motion and carried unanimously. Herb Cook gave the Operation’s and Manager’s Report. Daryl Swinney made a motion to approve the Operation’s and Manager’s Report. Tim Standeford seconded the motion and carried unanimously.
Old Business
- New Water Treatment Plant: Herb Cook reported to the Board that Mitchell and Stark are approximately 70% complete with building the backwash tank. Also, Herb noted that all the mechanical subcontractors have been in working and getting their loose ends tied up and ready for completion.
- Sunset Booster Upgrade: Mitchell and Stark have the foundation installed and the concrete floor poured in the new booster station building. Crews will be in and will have the walls laid up by the end of the week.
- IDEM Sanitary Survey: The Board asked Herb to get some preliminary numbers to replace or repair the Observatory Road elevated tank. Engineers gave quotes of over $500,000 just to resurface the tank due to the lead-based paint on the tank now. Preliminary numbers to build a new elevated tank are going to be anywhere from One to One and a half million dollars. A motion was made by Daryl Swinney to have Banning Engineers go ahead and start moving forward on drawings for a new elevated tank. The motion was seconded by Ron Wright and carried unanimously.
New Business
There was no new business at the time of the meeting.
Construction
- Wellfield Upgrade/Raw Water Lines: SCIREMC was paid for the installation of power to the new wellfield. Crews should be done installing power by the end of April. The rest of the work on the new well should also be complete by the end of April as well.
With no other business to discuss, Tim Standeford moved for adjournment. The motion received a second from Daryl Swinney and carried, unanimously. The next monthly Director’s meeting will be Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 8:00 AM. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 AM.
